Halo OG from OCPC Medical Marijuana Review

Halo OG from OCPC Medical Marijuana Review

By my senior year of college, I began to tire of having classes day in and day out.  My roommates felt much the same way.  So we all pitched in and bought an Xbox.  The original Xbox.  I’m beginning to date myself a bit.  The first game we bought was Halo.  There were many long nights spent playing 4 person pvp and smoking pot, so in a personal way, this strain makes perfect sense.

Halo OG is an indica dominant hybrid:  a combination of Tahoe OG, a phenotype of OG Kush, and Larry OG, a hybrid of SFV OG and OG Kush.  I have remarked in the past that SoCal loves its OG Kush, and this strain certainly seems to prove the rule.  When I went in to OCPC to pick up Halo OG, it was specifically for relief from my insomnia.  And I expected this indica to deliver.

The two grams I donated for were made up of just a few dense nuggets.  They were hard to tear apart because of Halo OG’s tight bud structure.  Each flower was loaded down with brown hairs, and overall, it was a dark, earthy nugget.  Knowing there is so much OG Kush in this strain, I was waiting for a fragrant pine aroma, and it delivered.  There was also a spring floral and resinous spice in the green hit.  After you fire it, it is hard to determine taste profiles due to the thick smoke.  There is a much needed smoothness and sweet spice in exhale note.  It keeps getting harsher the closer to cashed you get and it creates a categorically resinous ash.  In physical traits alone, this strain is noticeably indica.

There was an immediate buzz in arms and legs and stoney, droopy eyes.  It was amazingly fast acting.  There was impressive pain relief, but I was looking for sleep.  One bowl, no sleep.  Two bowls, yawning begins, and I head toward bed only to shift positions for half an hour before getting up to pack a third bowl.  It wasn’t the potency that was lacking.  I was thoroughly stoned, and my body was numb.   But it didn’t lock me or put me to sleep.

Halo OG is clearly a night time strain, but not quite the knock out I was looking for.  Comforting?  You bet, and its sedative effect was perfect for anxiety persisting into the night.  I’ve become skilled at stacking my strains through the day, and this one is for the hours after dinner and before you brush you teeth before setting in.  However, for that final ambien like drop, Halo simply isn’t the one.
