Lemon Cream Cake Pop from Miss Mary Jane’s Edibles Review

Lemon Cream Cake Pop from Miss Mary Jane's Bakeshop Edible Review

There is an Austrian coffee house on Chicago’s North side called Julius Meinl.  They make some of the most incredible espresso drinks in the city, specializing in the old world style.  However, it isn’t the coffee that brings me to Meinl’s doorstep visit after visit to America’s Second City.  It is their pastries, or more specifically, one pastry — their Lemon Lavender cake.  Never before had I experienced the culinary mind-meld that the lemon cake and cream created on my palate.  This delicately crafted cake is one of a kind, never to be duplicated.  Which is a shame, living in Orange County, so whenever I make the 2165 mile journey to Chicago, I add an extra mile in order to patronize Meinl’s.

But what am I to do the other 300 odd days I’m not in the Windy City?  Up until a few weeks ago, I was just sad a lot.  Then I found a medicated stand in, a dessert understudy if you will, the Lemon Cream cake pops from Miss Mary Jane’s Edibles.  Much like Meinl’s signature delicacy, these cake pops are impossibly moist.  Even after more than a week in the fridge, this edible melted in my mouth with such a devious flavor that I imagined I was somehow doing something wrong.  This cake pop is too decadent, too sinfully tempting.  The crispy, drizzled shell cradles the soft, flavorful middle, adding a wonderful texture combination.  There is only the tiniest hint of cannabis butter in the aftertaste, which is largely dominated by tastebud ecstasy.  The lemon is neither too acidic nor too saccharine.  It is delightfully flavorful, sure to become an obsession, if not an addiction.

This batch of cake pops from Miss Mary Jane’s Edibles were made using Charlotte’s Web, a high CBD strain known primarily for helping with childhood seizures.  The Charlotte’s Web in these edibles was provided by Coastal Collective, one of the few exclusive providers of this effective strain.  Besides being useful for children afflicted by Dravet Syndrome, Charlotte’s Web has proven to be a wonderful sedative.  I found it relaxing and calming on a level that even an OG can’t compare.  There is also moderate pain management.  I felt noticeable relief of my arthritis in my hands and wrists, great for after a long day working.  As if potent relief from anxiety and pain wasn’t enough, CBD also inhibits the munchies effect of cannabis, acting as an appetite suppressant, and research shows high CBD strains could even result in weight loss with daily use.  That means it is quite possible that this is the first cake pop that will assist your diet, not break it.
