Phantom OG Tarantula Joint from Ganja Gold Review

Phantom OG Tarantula Joint from Ganja Gold Review

Here in Southern California, we live in the land of OG Kush.  It’s calming, mellow high is a staple on Orange County menus, and there seems to be an endless parade of phenotypes and hybrids to contend with.  But occasionally, a black sheep is born.  Phantom OG is OG Kush’s dark and brooding older brother.  Better suited for after sundown, it is a heavier, stronger OG high, corralled here by Ganja Gold into one of their trademark tarantula joints.

This smooth burning pre-roll from Ganja Gold smoked slow and even, creating thick smoke and resinous ash, hinting at a bold indica lean.  The Phantom OG flower tasted of grape and dark berry (classic purp terp) and spicy smoked wood.  There is also a subtle nuttiness present thanks to the Platinum Cookies genetics.

Compared with a typical pre-roll, Ganja Gold tarantula joints are like night and day.  The differences begin with the top shelf bud, which must meet Ganja Gold’s strict screening process.  This is hand rolled into a cone with CO2 wax, hash, and finished with a layer of golden kief.  When tested side by side with the typical pre-roll of bleached papers and bottom of the jar shake or even trim, Ganja Gold joints are the connoisseurs joint: offering a better taste, a softer smoke, and a more potent high.

Phantom OG is the likely result of breeding the Phantom Cookies cut and Ken’s Kush with its Fire OG lineage.  This cross makes for a heady and stoned high.  Heavy in the eyes and shoulders, it wasn’t long until I was off my feet.  A short time later, I was asleep on the couch, halfway through a night of Adult Swim.  Clearly effective for insomnia, it is also useful for moderate chronic pain, helping sufferers get a well needed night’s sleep.
