Strain of the Week: Feb. 22, 2015 (Fire OG)

The Strain of the Week for this week, Fire OG, has the distinction of being the strain of my very first dab at the Los Angeles Cannabis Cup a few years ago. An exceptional cut of the SFV OG phenotype of OG Kush, Fire OG was made popular by OG Raskal Genetics as part of his White Fire hybrid, better known on the menus as WiFi.

The typical lemon Pine-Sol scent present in many OGs is supplemented here with an earthy charcoal. The taste of Fire OG is equally punky burnt pine and acidic lemon and can be exceptionally flavorful, especially as an extract.

Piled with myrcene, a terpene commonly associated with lemongrass, bay leaves, and hops, this terpene profile explains Fire OG’s effectiveness in pain relief and as a sedative. As good as it is for physical relaxation and melting pain relief, Fire OG does also have a heady rush as well — a lesson I learned the hard way after my virgin dab years ago.
