Marijuana Venture Review

Marijuana Venture Review

Are you in the cannabis industry?  Probably.  Lately, it seems everyone I meet is.  And with the popularity of marijuana booming, I don’t expect that to change.  With competition to capture a segment of the market increasing, keeping up to date on changes to regulations, technology, and consumer trends is ever more important.  Marijuana Venture bill themselves as the “Journal of Professional Cannabis Growers and Retailers”, and it is packed from cover to cover with innovative, forward thinking pieces for the maturing cannabis industry.  An absolute must read for every level of marijuana business, from cultivation to retail, Marijuana Venture will give you the tools to keep ahead of your competitors.

Although Marijuana Venture is published out of Washington with plenty of information specific to the Northwest, it is certainly not limited in its scope, with articles focusing on California, Arizona, and beyond.  For our local audience, they recently published an extremely helpful article on the California cannabis industry and the possibilities for the future in the face of new regulations and legalization attempts in 2016.

The glossy pages are mostly filled with industry ads and information for growers, extractors, and dispensary owners.  Marijuana Venture’s writing is fluid and enjoyable; the interviews, aggressive and important.  The grow articles in particular were approachable and educational for casual and professional alike with information ranging from soil and lighting to pests and proper harvest techniques.  There are also guest articles by licensed attorneys explaining laws and processes and dispensary and product profiles written to feature the finest brands in the business.

As mentioned above, Marijuana Venture is far from exclusive to industry insiders.  The journal provides valuable expertise for anyone interested in cannabis.  Included in each issue are beautiful, easy to follow infographics and a comprehensive event calendar.  I was also able to read a Q&A with Harborside’s Steve DeAngelo, a surprisingly engaging article with the passionate spokesman for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, and a touching eulogy for a beautiful soul named Richard “Bud” Vest that I have re-read several times since.  I learned about grow light wavelengths, the lifespan of a cannabis plant, and design strategies for a contemporary dispensary.  One entire issue was dedicated to the many women shaking up the cannabis industry, proving that women can be role models in this burgeoning sector.

I receive a number of cannabis publications, but few remain around the office as long as our issues of Marijuana Venture. In the end, my review copies were left ragged and dog-eared.  Articles were ripped out and lines were underlined.  But still I keep them, despite their condition, because throwing away such useful information seems to me an unforgivable crime.
