Jamaican Jerk Glazed Bacon from Marijuana & Munchies Review

Jamaican Jerk Glazed Bacon from Marijuana & Munchies Review

When I was in college, I bought a tin of Jamaican jerk seasoning that was on clearance at my local supermarket.  When I got home that night, I put it on some strip steak I was going to cook on the grill.  It was delicious and suddenly I found myself addicted to jerking meat.  I jerked meat in the kitchen.  I jerked meat on the balcony.  Sometimes when we had a bbq at a friend’s house, I’d jerk it there, even in front of strangers.  But I couldn’t help myself; a combination of sweet and spicy ingredients, including allspice, pepper, clove, brown sugar, nutmeg, and ginger, jerk seasoning is a flavorful alternative to the typical spice rack fare.

Marijuana & Munchies makes the most of this combination with their medicated bacon.  The thick glaze coats one side, almost eclipsing the bacon’s bacon-y taste, and the spice is applied generously so that it would dry into the glaze.  The bacon itself was well cooked, if not a bit fatty.  The glaze was quite sweet, but even the Jamaican jerk couldn’t cover the shatter taste.

Our one big complaint with Marijuana & Munchies shatter infused bacon was the limited amount of information provided on the package.  There was no listed THC counts or ingredients, leaving patients guessing about potency and dietary appropriateness.  There was also no expiration date, so we were unsure of the shelf life.  As we near eventual regulation and hopefully legalization, a standard minimum of packaging detail becomes increasingly important.

After contacting the manufacturer, we determined that each slice contains an estimated 130 mg.  Because we split our sample into multiple doses, it is difficult to judge the accuracy of that number.  We used our glazed bacon crumbled into a pasta salad and cut into homemade mac and cheese.  However, you could also serve it placed on top of a chicken sandwich, draped over a cooking steak, or, naturally, all on its own as a savory snack.
