#5. Goji OG Honeycomb
The first of several sativa dominant strains on this list, Goji OG is a hybrid of Nepali OG and Snow Lotus coming to us from Bodhi Seeds. Named after the himalayan berry of the same name, the sugary pieces were a breeze to handle and exploded into fragrant clouds of vapor. In a world where shatter is king, this glittering honeycomb boldly makes a statement of its own.
#4. Lavender OG Shatter from SC Extracts
The most relaxing high I sampled this year comes to us from SC Extracts. This well named shatter evokes both in flavor and in high the aromotherapuetic effects of lavender. More than a day at the spa ever could, dabs of this extract would soothe and pamper your mind and body after a particularly long and difficult day, which more than deserves a place on our list.
#3. Pineapple Cheesecake Sap from Clear Concentrates
The number three spot was hotly contested by the #4 Lavender OG. But in what ended up being a challenge of the clearest extract, the Pineapple Cheesecake Sap from Clear Concentrates edged the win. Even though the paper thin Lavender OG was nearly transluscent, this Clear Concentrates creation was so clarion that my camera couldn’t focus on it.
#2. Maui Blue Shatter from Kush Extracts
If 2012 marked the widespread explosion of concentrates across Orange County dispensaries, then 2014 saw the rise of the terpene. And none of the many dozens of shatters we tried this year embodied this more than Kush Extracts’ amazingly flavorful Maui Blue. Before you even unfolded the parchment paper, the rich, almost citrus smell rushed your senses. The electric orange was unlike any we’d seen before. We could have dabbed this shatter all day. And at times we did.
#1. OG #1 Space Crystals from Remington Extracts
Although Remington Extracts sampled us a mind meltingly high 90% THC Sour D x OG back in October, it is their OG#1 solventless Space Crystals that takes home the honored #1 spot this year. And testing at 88% itself, there is plenty to support this decision. Across the categories, including exceptionally high marks in packaging and potency, Remingotn Extracts seperated themselves from the competition, making them the most distinct dabbable of the year.
